Chick Lit Book Reviews

The London Chamber Orchestra presented a rare performance of Maurizio Kagel’s 90 second symphony for cycle bells, Eine Brise (A Breeze) in Spitalfields to launch EAST, the Mayor of London’s annual festival championing the vibrant cultural life of East London on Thursday 5 March.

Amateur cyclists from all over London signed up to be part of the cycling orchestra. The music element was generated by the sound of cycle bells, whistled, sung and fluttertongue notes made by the cyclists and the gusts of wind!

EAST 2009 will feature hundreds of events, many of them free, over six days from Thursday 5 to Tuesday 10 March showcasing the unique creativity of the East London through music, visual arts, theatre, literature, cinema, history and fashion in venues across East London. www.findeast.co.uk

Selected highlights of the festival include:

Thursday 5 March
• A lunchtime Bollywood extravaganza at Spitalfields market presented by B4U Music (12:30-13.30) FREE

• An installation producing sound and special compositions in Spitalfields Market by leading design agency AllofUs inspired by the working relationship between Greek composer Iannis Xenakis and French architect Le Corbusier commissioned for EAST to accompany the exhibition Le Corbusier: The Art of Architecture at the Barbican FREE

• Iain Sinclair at the Museum of London launching his new book Hackney that Rose-Red Empire in conversation with author Patrick White. (18:00-21:00) FREE

•The award-winning Paper Cinema with a premiere of live animation by Roger Eno at Toynbee Hall. (18:30)

• Wentworth Street, E1, will be transformed by the Whitechapel Gallery into MONOCROME, an ice-cream parlour where ice-creams can be bought with Minerva Cuevas artist-created currency, circulated by Petticoat Lane traders. (18:30) FREE

• FREE Vortex Tour East 09, featuring young jazz artists playing 12 venues across six days including Toynbee Studios, Rough Trade East, Theatre Royal Stratford East and the Museum of London. (20:45) FREE

•The Olivier award-winning hip-hop dance extravaganza The Pied Piper produced by Stratford East Theatre at the Barbican. (19:45)

Friday 6 March

• Steven Berkoffs East at The Courtyard Theatre (20:00)

• Ancient Chanting and Polyphony from Europe and the Middle East at St Ethelburgas Centre (20:30)

Saturday 7 March

• The Do Something Different Weekend at the Barbican (all day) FREE

• Swishing, a chic and thrifty event for swapping clothes with strangers at Spitalfields Market. (12:00-16:00) FREE

• A series of new walking tours commissioned from the award-winning guides London Walks including tales of pirates and murders in Wapping.

Sunday 8 March
• Cycle East: explore, discover and enjoy by bike music, theatre and performance in the East End, including new shorts by Steven Berkoff, David Eldridge and Rebecaa Lenkiewicz at the Arcola. (13:00,15:00,17:00)

• Courtney Pine at the Theatre Royal Stratford East (19:30)

• Soweto Kinch at Rich Mix (14:00-17:00) FREE

Monday 9 March
• The East Lecture on Art and the Digital Space featuring Paul Roseby, Artistic Director of the National Youth Theatre on on-line drama and Denzel Feigelson consultant to I-Tunes. (19:00-20.30) FREE

Tuesday 10 March
• Rifco Arts Presents: Wheres My Desi Soulmate? A new play bringing together some of the finest talent in British Asian theatre at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. (19:30)

• Liminal an exhibition exploring contemporary urban experience through digital media at Iniva. FREE

The new and improved “Chick Lit!”

There was originally another version of this on youtube, but I decided to fix it up and make it better, tweak it, per say, and then upload it.

The main thing I wanted to fix was the ending. I wanted to make it smoother since I couldn’t fit the whole song in there.

Unfortunately, when uploaded to youtube, approximately 1.5 seconds seems to have been cut off the end of my AMV, so the ending seems randomly cut and un-finished…

However I decided to keep this version of the vid on youtube despite the ratings and comments of the old one, mainly because there were a couple other small tweaks I made in this AMV.
